"Can it wait?"

If you notice any of the following symptoms in your pet, it warrants an emergency visit. If you are unsure, please call our office for advice. This list is intended to be a guide, but is not all inclusive.

- Difficulty breathing (fast rate of breathing, shallow or deep breathing, breathing with mouth open)

- Pale gums

- Difficulty walking

- Decreased responsiveness

- Bleeding

- Shaking/trembling

- Protracted vomiting or diarrhea

- Toxin ingestion

- Difficulty urinating

- Pain

- Seizures

- Weakness

- Prolonged anorexia

- Eye issue- most problems with the eye are extremely time sensitive and should not wait

- Wound

- Experiences any trauma or bite wound trauma

- Acute onset cough

Our office welcomes walk-in emergencies during business hours. We are open both weekend days and have extended hours on weekdays, though we are currently closed on Wednesday. Please call us at (760)736-3636 to let us know you are on your way and the nature of your emergency so that we can be as prepared as possible. 

If your pet experiences an emergency after we have closed, please call California Veterinary Specialists at (760) 431-2273.
