Advanced Veterinary Care is Proud to Offer New Telemedicine Services!

Advanced Veterinary Care is now proud to offer Telemedicine services to our clients as an option for certain cases. The recent California State of Emergency Declaration has expanded the use of telemedicine in veterinary practices.  It allows us to use remote communication such as email, phone calls, and video conferencing to treat certain cases.  If applicable, we can prescribe medication for client pick up, online prescriptions, or shipment from our hospital to your door.


Which cases qualify for Telemedicine?  Not all cases are appropriate for remote consult.  By law, the patient must have a current Client-Patient-Doctor relationship, meaning we have examined the pet within the last year.  In addition to this requirement the case itself must be appropriate for remote consultation.  Because we cannot physically examine your pet and/or run necessary tests, telemedicine is only appropriate for relatively minor concerns in otherwise healthy animals.  Examples of cases that may qualify for telemedicine include anxiety/behavior concerns, diarrhea (without other symptoms), and cough/”kennel cough” in an otherwise healthy young pet.

Each case must be evaluated individually to decide if it will qualify for telemedicine.  If you have a concern with your pet that you think maybe a candidate for remote care, please contact our hospital.  If telemedicine is not an option, we will be happy to provide quality care for your pet via our low-contact curbside concierge service.
